This dissertation offers a comprehensive observation and analysis of Ye Guangqin’snovels from a brand new perspective. It holds that Ye Guangqin’s works break hackles fosocial politics and thus wander boundlessly through cultural anthropology, a vast aestheticfield. She not only focuses on local, original and uncivilized unorthodox culture, but alsodedicates to tap the true life of ethnic survival, and to re-examine the truth of marginalizedand assimilated unique value of national tradition which has been long-term repressed byhegemony.First of all, Ye Guangqin creates Beijing flag series of novels with strong sense ofnational identity. She affectionately depicts Manchu customs and lifestyles to present theircultural rituals, explore cultural relics, track their worship and belief which highlight itsunique national character of ethnic identity. Besides, Ye Guangqin creates Qinling seriesnovels from cultural relativism of cultural anthropology. She conducts field investigationsaround Qinling area. concentrated on cultural otherness, Ye Guangcen chorographicallydepicts and interpret the ancient geographic customs, humanity, life style, history, belief,totem and forbidden and what’s more, sketches a humanity chorography from away moderncivilization which What’s more, she sketched a humanity chorography which is far away frommodern civilization. She works on a heart habitat for anxious hearts surviving in global age.Meanwhile, she observes all with an identity of alien-scholar. She concerns these decliningzones with equality and respect. Both recall of Manchu life and life of Qinling area dwellers,Ye Guangqin expresses her mourn to disadvantaged ethnic group culture which has beencompressed by modernization with a poignant and elegiac tone. A cultural anthropologycross-cultural perspective helps Ye Guangqen ponder over ups and downs of her self situationand national history and culture.
