Hong Lou Meng is a book that concentrates almost all the culture of China. It attractsmany famous scholars to research its content. As a result, redology comes into being.With thefrequent communication between countries after reform and opening up, it does not restrict inpolitics and economy any more. In order to enhance the understanding of each other, the needto communicate culture becomes more and more urgent. As a representative of Chineseculture, the translation of hong lou meng arouses the public attention as well. People begin toanalyze the translation from various aspects, such as poetry, figure of speech, clothing,language, etc. But as to the wine culture, there is few people to do research.This article focuses on two translation versions of Hong Lou Meng, that is, theYang’stranslation and David Hawkes and John Minford’s translation. And in this article it discussesthe wine culture translation. In the process of analysis, it is classified into four aspects. Thefirst is the translation of wine name, the second is the translation of drinking process, the thirdis the translation of drinkers’wager game, and the last one is the translation of other winecultures. And the four aspects are further classified into five parts. When translating thesewine cultures, the probelm is the translation of culture-loaded words. By analyzing the twoversions, three translation strategies can be concluded. One is to get rid of the constraint ofculture to do literal translation. One is to combine the culture and content to make the readersmore clear. And another is to translate these words into the images that readers are familiarwith. However, both the two translation version have flaw. The article puts forward thecorresponding revision to provide reference for the related researchers.Through researching and summerizing the translation of wine culture, it will providemany translation instances and translation strategies for translators, which lays the foundationof transmission of wine culture of China.
