Su Xuelin is a special woman appeared in the early Republic of China.Thespecial is the duality of her thought and creation, this duality is derived from thespirit of era culture and regional culture.Environment contribute to or limitation ofwriter’s creation under certain conditions.Many female writers have sprung up inthe early20thcentury in China,for example Su Xuelin,Lu Yin,Bing Xin etc.Theirpresence is fully prove the role of the environment,why few women constantlywriting before20thcentury?And by20thcentury,they are accustomed to writinglike man?This phenomenon due to the influence of society and timesenvironment.As a female writer of the era,two kind of culture spirit make greatinfluence on Su Xuelin,this make her form the dual cultural personality.The dualcultural personality not split,but inner harmony,and affect her literary creationdirectly.The first chapter from the aspect of regional culture,mainly about Huizhoupatriarchal clan social structure.Tease out the influence of regional culture in SuXuelin’s childhood and youth years,and the contradiction between subjectconsciousness.Second,highlight the impact of the May4thnew ideas to SuXuelin’s cultural personality.Her duality of personality formed under the two kindof times culture,and how to unity step by step shown in her works.The second chapter explores the “present” of Huizhou culture in Su Xuelin’sworks.On the one hand,she described the Huizhou culture consciously andunconsciously in her prose,including the natural environment,social custom andthe clan system of Huizhou region.On the other hand,Su Xuelin’s culturalcharacter showed the spirit of Huizhou culture,and it’s occupation to herworks.Mainly through the two aspects to illustrate Su Xuelin’s creation under theinfluence of Huizhou culture. The third chapter probes into Su Xuelin’s prosing and play writing in Chineseand western cultural horizon.The western culture factors blend into her prose andplay,but the spiritual essence of her works is the traditional culture,the influence of“non-mainstream” literature and art thoughts.Such as Yuan mei’s “formalpersonality”.The digest of literary theory is the result of Su Xuelin’s dual culturalpersonality development.From the duality of culture evolved into the fusion ofChinese and western cultures.The purpose of this paper is to restore a completepersonality of Su Xuelin from the culture aspects.
