In modern spoken Chinese, there is a type of negative construction called"Ni Zhe(ge) NP". In daily oral communication, it’s widely used and has distinctive semantic features with multiple functions. This paper focuses on the syntax, semantic, cognitive and pragmatic features of "Ni Zhe(ge) NP" in modern Chinese. And we explore the formation and the development of this structure. The main contents are as follow.The first part reviews the relevant researches of "Ni Zhe(ge) NP". The structure of this thesis, research method and linguistic data resources are presented in this part as well.The second part is on the syntactic function. Through a static description, we find "Ni Zhe(ge) NP" can be used as subject, object, compatible language、topic, even as a sentence.The syntax of "Ni Zhe(ge) NP" is studied in the third part. Through description of this structure from three aspects, demonstrative pronouns, quantity structure and characteristics of NP, it is found that "Ni Zhe(ge) NP" mainly uses with near demonstrative pronoun" Zhe" while the far demonstrative pronoun "Na" cases appeared in Ming Dynasty and disappeared in Qing Dynasty. Quantity structure can be divided into the singular structure and the plural structure, which is quite different from modern Chinese. There are four categories of NP, including simple alleged nouns, attributive center phrases, parallel phrases and the "De" structure.The fourth part analyzes the cognitive of this structure."Ni Zhe(ge) NP" mainly expresses negative significance, Seldom, definite and positive significance.The fifth part makes a description of the pragmatic features of the structure, including its stylistic features, the relationship and behavior of the speakers. We found that this structure is mainly for discourse, from the superior to the lower with scolding tone and action.The formation and the development of this structure are studied in the sixth part. We believe the "Ni Zhe(ge) NP" structure develops from integrating "Zhe(Ge) NP " and " Ni Ge NP " and the processes of differentiation and subjectivisation.The last part comes to a conclusion which summarizes the main arguments and research significance, and points out the innovation and deficiencies of this paper.
