This is an English-Chinese translation report for four chapters of The life of Ezra Pound. As a biography, the original text is the combination of history and literature. Therefore, it is quite important for a translator to balance the relationship between historicity and literariness. If historicity is emphasized too much, the literariness will be reduced and the translated text will be hard to attract readers. On the contrary, if the historicity has been ignored, the translation will reduce into creation and the text will lose the readers’trust. Therefore, the translator must consider his/her role in translating works. He should play his creativity based on the original text so as to convey the artistry of the original text. This report explores the translation principles and strategies in translating the biography The life of Ezra Pound. It is divided into five chapters. The first chapter introduces the source, the contents, and the requirements of the translating task and the structure of this report. The second chapter descirbes the translation processes of this task. The third chapter introduces the functional equivalence theory and its applicability in the translation task. In the fourth chapter, this report focuses on the difficult points of the original text and the translating strategies. The fifth chapter makes a summary of the report, lists the experience and points out the limitations of the translation.
