Ming Dynasty Funeral Ritual Research

Ming Dynasty had overthrown the rule of Yuan, made up the cultural dislocation and made a significant contribution to the inheritance and development of Chinese etiquette civilization. Generating from Tang and Song Dynasties, the funeral ceremony of the Ming Dynasty, which occupies an important position in the history of the development of the funeral ceremony in China, also influenced the one in Qing Dynasty.Basing on the previous research of the funeral ceremony in the Ming Dynasty, this article widely collects funeral rites material from the Ming Dynasty historical literatures, combs the rites in the Ming Dynasty funeral ceremony one by one as corroborated by modern and contemporary archaeological materials to try to make the funeral ceremony process more clearly revealed, and restore its true face.The whole article includes three main parts:the first will take an overview of the Ming Dynasty funeral ceremony; the second part researches the specific rites of the Ming Dynasty funeral ceremony; the third part bring to light several characteristics of the Ming’s funeral ceremony.
