This paper discussed the diffusion process of French court fashion through the study of the17th-18th century French chothing fashion. In the latter half of the17th century, Louis ⅩⅣ established a set of his own court fashion. The establishment of such a court fashion is not only a business practices, but also the means with which Louis ⅩⅣ strengthen the centralization, even have some connection with the earlier generation of French nationalist country. Despite the intervention of state power and its control, this fashion custom still penetrated to the lower classes and diffused to other European countries. This diffusion continues in nowadays, the influence of French fashion has never been interrupted. The topic in a sense explains why fashion become a tradition in France, and provides a good perspective for understanding the generation of early nationalist state.
