Compared with other fashion styles, the Lolita fashion isrelatively young with a history of only30years. Although it hasbeen familiar to most people for only a decade since its emergence asa fashion subculture, its cross-regional, cross-media impact isphenomenal. With the rapid growth of Lolita lovers across the world,it is necessary to analyze its origin and evolution in order tocontribute to the future of fashion design. In this study, the Lolitafashion, its interrelated and conflicting sub-styles, among manyothers, are analyzed and compared. The analysis of the formation ofits social background, its cultural trends, and the constituteelements and their relationships are carried out in parallel. Inaddition, the ’joyousness’ aroused by this popular style isinvestigated particularly. In summary, the Lolita fashion we haveseen today is not a short-term topics like flash in the pan, but aresult of adaptation, collision, variation, fusion and reformationand innovation processes among multiple classic fashion styles, dueto the frequent intervention of contemporary cultures and variationof social background. The author creates a series of new culturalattributes and visual symbols, rooted in the mainstream Lolitafashion, which intend to meet the ’joyousness’ of the Chinese younggeneration. These new sub-styles will advance the popularity ofLolita style in modern China. |
