Music And Performance Analysis Of Shi Fu Piano Works "the XinJiang Suite"

"The first Xinjiang Suite" consists of three piano works,"The Song of Iceberg","Kashgar Dance Music" and "Tajik Drum Dance", which was pioneeringly created by our famous composer Shi Fu (old name was Guo Shifu). He fully learned from the essence of the various ethnic minorities’music and based it on the blend of Tajik music elements. This group of works sets an example for the following similar piano works, which plays an irreplaceable important role in the history of the creation of Chinese piano music.This paper researches these three works, from the following aspects, the cause of creation, the background, the scene and emotion that the author want to express, and their special status in Chinese piano works. This study analyses these works from emotion, the leading to the scene, music performance and playing techniques, and tries to discover the soul of the works, in order to help more and more avid pianists to understand the core of performance skill and spiritual connotation.This paper includes four parts:The first part is mainly made up of three sections, an introduction of the life, work experience and his representative Xinjiang piano works; an overview of the basic situation of the creation background of these musical works; and the introduction of the historical background of "The first Xinjiang Suite" with deep analysis. The purpose of this part is to grasp the musical style and the creation characteristics of "The first Xinjiang Suite".The second part fully and deeply analyses "The first Xinjiang Suite" not only from rhythm, melody, tonality, musical form and harmony, but also from the touch key, fingering and pedal.The third part makes a comparison between ’The First Xinjiang Suite’ and Bartok’s Piano Music to research the national style in these works, studies the fusion, the starting point, the meeting point and manifestations between modern and folk music, and finally analyses how national style reflects in these works.The last part is conclusion which studies the practical significance and application value of the present research.By analyzing and summarizing the style characteristics and artistry of "The first Xinjiang Suite" by Shi Fu, the present study will help people have more understanding and knowledge with the mixture between these works and Xinjiang local music, thereby, improving our teaching level and the ability of creative playing.
