With the trend of globalization and the development of English education, collegeEnglish education has altered its goal to cultivating students’ intercultural communicativecompetence. However, as an important form of communication, kinesics is often ignored.Thus, college English teachers should attach importance to the knowledge on Englishkinesics. But the current situation is that contemporary college English teachers lack thetraining in this respect in the process of major study. Therefore, we should first get a generalpicture of college English teachers’ knowledge level on English kinesics. A survey is done toinvestigate their knowledge, learning motivation as well as input and acquisition channels onEnglish kinesics by means of test and questionnaire, and the statistic tools of Excel97-2003and SPSS20.0are used to analyze the data collected. The participants are56college Englishteachers. On the basis of the data, three conclusions are reached:(1) The low average scorethe participants have got, to some degree, indicates that college English teachers do not haveadequate knowledge on English kinesics;(2) The participants are not motivated to acquire theknowledge on English kinesics;(3) The participants agree that some input and acquisitionchannels are more effective than others. Based on the findings, some suggestions are putforward to enhance college English teachers’ knowledge on English kinesics.
