As an important part of Six Dynasties’ topography,Species’ description is based on animals,plants, objects (mineral), different people.After a gestation of Pre-Ch’in and development of HanDynasties,it reached the peak during the Six Dynasties,with more than100existing works. Thesespecies’description that contains rich content and diverse genres is component can not be ignoredin the study of ancient literature.Given the lack of literary studies of species’description intoday’s academia, this paper starting from the text traced its creative origins, combined with thehistorical background to explore the reasons for its prosperous, combed their content types,analyzed its creative approach and highlighted its impact on future generations.Thesis consists offive chapters.Chapter One A traceability of species’description of Six Dynasties’ topographyIts origins can be traced back to plenties of species in the "Book of Songs""Songs of theSouth",a lot of rare species in "Yi Zhou Shu"and "Shan Hai Jing", Interpretation of a largenumber of plants and animals in "Er Ya"and philosophy books of Pre-Ch’in.A large number offoreign matter, exotic, different people’s records in Dong Fangshuo "miraculous Sutra","tenChau mind","Dong Ming Ji" played a role in the emergence of species’description. Yang Fu’s"Yi Wu Zhi" is the first topographical work describing species.Chapter Two Prosperous overview of species’description of Six Dynasties’ topographyFirstly, the renaissance of geography to science museums, geographic awareness, ethnicmigration and divergent psychological fit, metaphysics rise and species awareness are majorfactors forming prosperous situation of species’description of Six Dynasties’topography.Secondly, the quantity and species are variety including animals, plants, objects(mineral), different people and so on.Additionally, species’description of Six Dynasties’topography reflects the overall characteristics obviously,for instance,geographical distribution of species in Sichuan, Yang Jing, a vast and wide cross-regional and extra-regional countriesdominated southern;times differences that Wei and Jin Dynasties is the rise of the creation of anobjective account and the number of creation gradually reduce during Northern and SouthernDynasties,tending to reflect the religious consciousness in its content;there is often onephenomenon describing the same species in different contents and show a more positive trend; atyped of create "Yi Wu Zhi".Last but not least,other types of books of Six Dynasties alsocontain a certain number of species describing such as geography naturalist novels, notes books,,philosophy books, genealogy, writing stationery etc.Chapter Three Content classification of species’description of Six Dynasties’ topographyThe content of species’description can be divided into four categories. First, the plaindescriptions are the main types of species described content,aiming at illustrating the shape ofthe object, appearance (animals, plants, objects), customs (the nations), function (plants,artifacts), etc.Second, reflecting Divination and Buddhist thought.Third, Weird sexualdescription and civil rumors. Fourth, description with a clear lyrical reasoning or symbolicsustenance.The last three categories’literature are strong than the first one.Chapter Four The comparison among species’description of Six Dynasties’topography,YongWuFu,YongWu poetryAs the same style of writing species in the Six Dynasties, the creation of species’description ofSix Dynasties’ topography,YongWuFu and YongWu poetry show prosperity.From theperspective of the evolution of the track,species’description of topography is consistent withYongWuFu,however,YongWu poetry’trend opposites.In prosperous reason,species’descriptionhas in some common with YongWuFu and the former plays a certain role in the later’screation.The reason for YongWu poetry’s development mainly lies pursuit of fashion shape inliterature, advocates from rulers and its reference toYongWu Fu and landscape poetry’s artpractices.On the subject of writing, there are cases describing the same species in the threestyles,species of topography greatly exceeds the number of that in YongWuFu and YongWu poetry.On the topic type,the three describe simply species in common,and the difference in thatspecies’description of topography also present novel tendencies and the description of YongWuFu and YongWu poetry reflect poetic tradition.In the creative approach,genre styles ofspecies’description of topography are more diverse than YongWu Fu and YongWu poetry,suchas dispersion, fiction and combination the two with verse.Its main rhetoric ismetaphor.While,duality and hyperbole practices are frequently used in YongWu Fu andYongWu.
