Horror movie as an important part of the type-film, has been well received by the audience favorite and the attention of researchers. In recent years, The number of people watching horror movies has become a lot, and more an more research papers about horror movies have been written. The core topics of these papers was about that how did the horror movie take aesthetic pleasures to people, or that why horror movies can make people feel both fear and feel like, or that what kind of performance characteristics of this horror movie of some special place. This article, in the previous basis, attempts to change to a new way of thinking, to conduct research on body images and its’aesthetic significances in horror movie from an aesthetic point of view.Apart from the preface and the epilogue, this article is divided into three chapters.Chapter one first briefly recall the simplified body history of the horror movie, and then divided the body images in horror movies into three types, include the materialized body image, the abnormal body image and the fantasy body image, depending on the difference of the form and content, and then detailed analysis of every body image. Among them, the materialized body image which symbolizes the outside world is so dangerous and terrible that it is difficult to get rid of the influence and the shackles of the external world, could be divided into two parts:the pure scary body and the fit body of the things and people. The abnormal body image which symbolizes of mankind the human beings are the most terrible, also could be divided into two parts:the mutilated body image and the anomalous body image. Last but not least, the fantasy body image could be divided into two parts too, which include the supernatural body image and the absent body image, symbolizes the unknown world is the same terrifying but no one could say it clearly. Chapter two summarizes the way of representation of the body images in horror movie from two aspects. This article thinks it has two methods. For the first, the external way of representation, which include four ways:firstly, direct presentation, with the most direct way to restore the horrible image in the horror movies. Secondly, makeup, which portrays the image of the body in the horror movies. Thirdly, props, that use some special tool to substitute the horrible body in the film. Fourthly, stunt, use the computer technology to let those horrible image only in the brain of human being to become true on the picture. For the second, the internal way of representation, which always more emphasis on the subjective intent of the film director and screenwriter, to enhance the audience’s understanding of the horror body image by creating an atmosphere of terror. In the production progress of horror movies, the two ways are often used together so that the body images in horror movie can become more and more abundant.Chapter three reflects on the aesthetic significances that conveyed by the body images in horror movies book and arrives at these conclusions, and changes the previous aesthetic concepts that the beauty is beautiful. This change is mainly reflected in the following three aspects. For the first, the body images in horror movies have presented an art terrorist. For the second, the body images in horror movies can promote negative emotional catharsis. Last but not least, the body images in horror movies can enable people to get aesthetic pleasure from aesthetic appreciation.This article uses a variety of methods, such as comparative method, documentary method and summarized method, to study these issues. And at the same time, lots of film works can be the best examples to elaborate those arguments and arguments in the article. These practices can effectively explore the many important theoretical value point of view of the article, which would deepen people’s understanding of the body image in horror movies.
