Aesthetic Experience Of Watching Horror Movies

The sense of terror which can be triggered from real life experience or imaginative emotional experience has always been in the shadow of human development.From a macro perspective,terrorism can be divided into realistic horror and artistic horror.This kind of division makes horror enter the aesthetic field.The biggest difference between these two aspect is whether the pain of horror can be transformed into aesthetic perception through the display of aesthetic objects.Various artistic form such as drama,literature,or film,strives to give audiences a variety of visual and auditory sensations.It is the prerequisite for aesthetic feeling of terror that during the process of mobilizing audiences' imagination to create a thrilling or horror world like fantasy,the artistic form still maintains an appropriate distance from its audiences.However,sensory stimulation is one of prerequisites for reaching the audience's aesthetic domain,but everyone has their own unique aesthetic domain.Therefore,only after the audiences regain joy and breakthrough appreciation through feelings of fear and nausea,can the object of horror narrative become the one of literary appreciation.From the perspective of literature and art psychology,this paper discusses how the horror film makes the audience to have unique aesthetic experience on the basis of inheriting the fear in the ancient Greek tragedy.Firstly,it clarifies the relevant concepts of horror,and traces the theoretical origin of horror aesthetics from the aesthetic perspective.Specifically,that is the corresponding overview of the aesthetic function of fear emotion caused by ancient Greek tragedy,leading to the aesthetic characteristics of horror films.The next two parts are based on the particularity of the horror aesthetic feeling.The former one discusses the emergence of the aesthetic expectation psychology in the horror films,embodying in the form,image and implication expectation.The later part that focuses on horror film's grasp of the aesthetic psychological distance,integrates with the particularity of horror movie itself to analyze how the horror films inspires true terror feelings from the bottom ofheart.Meanwhile,with the discussion about particularity of horror movies,this part also presents some methods for grasping the aesthetic psychological distance to let audience reach entertainment catharsis,rational thought of aesthetic feeling eventually.In general,based on different specific movie examples,this thesis proposes aesthetic affirmation of the artistic value of horror movies.
