Known as "the father of modern African literature", Chinua Achebe is the most famous writer in Africa, and also the most potential Nobel Prize winner for Literature next time. He is world-renowned.In his works, Achebe shows to readers all the destruction to Africa from the imperialist colonial invasion, the current situation of postcolonial Africa and his ow thoughts upon all these above. His works are in African-style, with a strong African flavor. Including "Things Fall Apart", the "Nigeria four sequences", and "Anthills of the Savannah" are the masterpieces of Achebe’s and also of the modern African literature. They deeply analyze the status of colonial and postcolonial Africa and are banners arousing the awakening of Africa."We are extremely weak in Black African literary studies and our Chinese independent academic requires that we should study African literature from a careful interpretation of the text." Based on this, the paper is mainly focused on the text analysis. Meanwhile, combine the actual situation of the development of African colonial and post-colonial era, trying to paint and display the colonial and post-colonial African images in the works of Achebe, to explore and outline new impression of Africa.This paper is divided into five chapters:in the first chapter, place Achebe in the environment of African literature and even Oriental literature, discuss African literature and Oriental Literature. And then, give a general introduction to Achebe, his creation, and postcolonial literary theory. Finally, introduce the research situation of Achebe in China and the features of the research; in the second chapter, from the collapse of the traditional African culture, the heroic disintegration of the tragedy and tribal collapse, the collapse of the religious and the struggling status of women, sketch the "Things Fall Apart" images of the imperialist colonial Africa, and reproduce the colonial invasion of Africa to show the collapsed picture; in the third chapter, interpret the national value of Africa, female consciousness, the intellectual concern of the post-colonial world and the "Get a Life" of post-colonial society, depict the images of the post-colonial Africa; in the fourth chapter, firstly analyze the development trajectory from the " Things Fall Apart " to the "Get a Life". The " Things Fall Apart " to the " Get a Life " is a true reflection of the post-colonial Africa and is the inevitable process of historical development of Africa. It’s the inevitable result of the efforts done by Africans, and is a ruthlessly imperialist criticism and unlimited vision for Africa’s development. And then, analyze the significance of Achebe’s colonial and post-colonial composing. Finally, analyze the research value and its future; in the fifth chapter, summarize the images and its profound connotation in Achebe’s creation and according to practical situation of African literature, look to the future.With the new criticism and the postcolonial theory, interpret the works of Achebe, to make fully recognize Africa, and really promote the global integration process.In recent years, with the development of Africa, African literature has also experienced huge changes and development. Especially, with the Nobel Prize for Literature, the Booker Prize International Award flooded to patronize African, African literature has increasingly become a point. Upon this, the study of Achebe has high academic value. In this paper, according to the analysis and research of Achebe’s works, format the images and hope it can contribute to the study of Achebe and African literature.
