The value of classical Chinese poetry should not be overlooked in Chinese literature and even in world literature. Many translators at home and abroad are dedicated to the translation of classical Chinese poems, and some of them have translated many outstanding works. However, in view of classical Chinese poems, it is a complex communicative activity of cross-times, cross-region, cross-language and cross-culture, an issue of classical Chinese poetry translation is more like an extensive field that is well worthy of exploration.The translator’s subjective creativity is always as an important subject in the field of deconstruction translation study in Chinese and Western. With the development of deconstruction translation studies, the translator’s subjective creativity of playing has become the focus of many scholars’research pursuits. Classic Chinese poetry is an excellent explanation of creative translation.This thesis takes Jacques Derrida’s viewpoints of creativity in deconstruction concepts of "defferance" as the basic theory, using Du Fu’s Qiyan Jueju as a research text. This thesis analyzes different English versions by different translators, exploring the translator’s subjective creativity playing under the value of Jacques Derrida’s deconstructive viewpoints of "defferance" that undergoes the process of the English translation of Du Fu’s Qiyan Jueju poetry. This thesis first expounds the connotation of deconstruction translation theory and its main viewpoints of subject’s creativity for the translator. Supported by concerning theories and documents in various research fields, this thesis endeavors to open up a new translator’s subjectivity research orientation, analyzing translation process of classic Chinese poetry from the perspective of the translator’s subjective creativity under the guidance of Jacques Derrida’s deconstructive viewpoints. This new research orientation is of the utmost value for "cultural adaptation" and translation appreciation in a way that emphasizes the translator’s subjective creativity in translation. Finally, this thesis provides with some other relative considerations about the application of the translator’s subjective creativity in the translation of the classic Chinese poetry.
