The multiethnic district’s promotion work on Putonghua is being carried out for many years and has made great achievements. But with many nationalities and complicated language mixed, multinational areas have a personality different from other regions. These individualities require the only practical and realistic work on the promotion of Putonghua in the mixed area, instead of copying that in other regions, and also keeping pace with the times to carry out the project. However, within the existing research, investigation on the mixed area Putonghua work is far from enough and just some discussions on certain specific issues. Owing to the lack of systematic and in-depth analysis as well as a powerful data description, it is increasing difficult to carry out the promotion work on Putonghua and make relevant policies in multiethnic districts without strong support and references.Through questionnaire and interviewing survey, a great number of valid and reliable data have been collected. On the basis of the data analysis, the paper has comprehensively investigated and researched on Mandarin training and testing in Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and Aba, the two important multiethnic areas of Sichuan Province and made a full and accurate description of the status quo. Further more, the paper has made a corresponding analysis according to data and put forward targeted recommendations. The purpose is to make the description of commonness and individuality of Putonghua training and testing in multiethnic areas compared with other regions, to provide the basis and reference for national policy, language policy development, as well as follow-up work to carry out, to provide a vivid template of harmonious ecology of language of all ethnic groups. This paper has been divided into seven parts to expound this issue. The first part has described the value of the paper, review of related researches, and research methods, content and difficulties. The second part has illustrated the overview of the two multiethnic areas (Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and Aba that were investigated). The third part has depicted the language usage and Putonghua level in the multiethnic areas (including dialects and national language). The fourth part is the investigation and analys concerning Putonghua training status of the mixed areas, and some training suggestions have been recommended on the basis of the analysis. Part five is the investigation and analysis concerning the status of the Putonghua test in the mixed area, and has put forward the testing proposals. The sixth part is a linguistic analysis of mixed zone mandarin learning tests in the presence of bias and has proposed learning proposals. The seventh part has deliberated over the revolution of Putonghua and forecasted the prospect of the multiethnic district’s promotion work on Putonghua.
