A Study On Procudator In Jesuits Commercial Activities

In the Research of Transmission Catholicism in the Far East during16th-17th century, the funding issue is an important part which can not be ignored. As the protagonist in the campaign, the Jesuits were heavily dependent on the commercial trading at sea, and the major financial Affairs were undertaken by Procurator. There are several different positions can be named as Procurator in the Jesuits, the related position in this thesis which was formally set up by Padre Visitor Valignano is responsible for the Mission in Japan with the special local environment. These Procurators were arranged in Nagasaki, Macau, Malacca, Goa.Lisbo, Madrid and other places, in which these two sites, Nagasaki and Macau, have been mostly associated with the Macau-Japan Trade directly. The purpose of this work to discuss Procurator’s work and role in the whole commercial activities, based on three documents about their Regulations and Memorandum.
