The modern Chinese movement of studying in Japan was immense, and among them were numerous students specializing in commerce. They played an important role in the transformation and development of modern Chinese society and economy, yet there is currently limited attention from academia towards this group. This article primarily focuses on the research of the activities of students who graduated from the Tokyo Higher Commercial School(东京高等商业学校|Tokyo Shōgyō Gakkō)during the period from 1901 to 1920.In the introduction section, the previous research achievements in both Chinese and Japanese academia are first reviewed, followed by an introduction to the problem awareness and research significance.Subsequently, the research approach of this article is outlined, along with necessary explanations and clarifications regarding the research subjects, data sources, and research methods.Chapter two mainly introduces the reasons behind the modern Chinese people studying at the Tokyo Higher Commercial School(东京高等商业学校|Tokyo Shōgyō Gakkō),and through analysis, four reasons are identified:the rise of the domestic "Commercial War" trend, insufficient development of domestic commercial education, the climax of the modern movement of studying in Japan, and the strong educational strength of the Tokyo Higher Commercial School(东京高等商业学校丨 Tokyo Shōgyō Gakkō)itself.Chapter three focuses on the characteristics of the group of students who graduated from the Tokyo Higher Commercial School(东京高等商业学校丨 Tokyo Shōgyō Gakkō)between 1901 and 1920,taking into account admission selection criteria, duration of study, gender ratio, regional backgrounds.sources of study funds, curriculum development plans, and post-graduation destinations.Based on the analysis results of chapter three, chapter four conducts a comprehensive analysis of the three main post-graduation destinations:"Business Education" and "Government Economic Management Departments" and "Commercial Business Activities" grasping the impact of this group during the process of modern transformation in China.Chapter five analyzes individual cases such as Yang Rumei,Wu Dingchang, and Tan Lisan, further examining the significant role played by students who graduated from the Tokyo Higher Commercial School(东京高等商业学校丨 Tokyo Shōgyō Gakkō)in the development of modern Chinese commerce education, government economic management departments, and commercial business activities during the process of modernization and transformation.Chapter six is the conclusion of the thesis, summarizing the impact and role played by the group of students who graduated from the Tokyo Higher Commercial School(东京高等商业学校丨Tokyo Shōgyō Gakkō)between 1901 and 1920 in the process of modern Chinese socio-economic transformation.Represented by the Tokyo Higher Commercial School(东京高等商业学校丨 TokyoShōgyō Gakkō),the group of students studying commerce in Japan during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China(1912-1949)was one of the important groups of advanced professional knowledge-bearing students, playing a bridging role in the process of modern Chinese economic transformation. In addition to promoting the spread and popularization of Western economics in modern China through the promotion of business education, the group of students studying commerce in Japan also contributed to the transformation and innovation of traditional Chinese economic management institutions and systems through their participation in the construction of the upper echelons of political structures.Furthermore, their involvement in increasingly complex and market-oriented commercial business activities facilitated the development and improvement of modern Chinese capitalist market economy.
