On Translation Of English Children’s Literature From The Perspective Of Zheng Hailing’s Harmoniousness Principle

With the development of society, children are gaining more and more people·sattention. Accordingly, children·s literature has also attracted extensive attention.Currently, more and more children·s literature has been translated into Chinese to meetchildren·s need. Hence, studies of translation in children·s literature have become animportant topic in translation studies. Based on the translation experience ofDaddy-Long-Legs, the author tries to discuss the techniques in translating children·sEnglish literature from the guidance of Zheng Hailing·s harmoniousness principle.Initially, the thesis analyses the features of children·s literature at lexical andsyntactical level. And then it discusses the techniques of children·s literaturetranslation. Generally, children·s literature is vivid, simple and employs childlikelanguage at lexical level; at the syntactical level, it uses rhetorical devices and a greatmany simple sentences. In the course of translating children·s literature, the authortries her best to reproduce the original style regarding the features both at the lexicaland syntactical level under Zheng Hailing·s harmoniousness principle. Therefore, inwords translation, certain translation techniques could be used like addition,conversion, omission and so on; during the translation process of sentences, sometranslation techniques are used, for example, division, reversing and the like.The author holds that translating children·s literature with Zheng Hailing·sharmoniousness principle as guidance would make the translation more natural andnative. Therefore it makes the translation of children·s literature easier for the childrento understand foreign literature and culture, and consequently the chances for them toknow each other are increased.
