Beyond The Critique Of Usage Of Kuhn’s Paradigm To Interpret The History Of Psychology

Modern psychology was born in the form of natural science, at the beginning ofit’s naissance, there was some conflict between scientific psychology and humanisticpsychology. As a result, there were many schools in psychology and existed manydifferent theories. The division of psychology was not only existed in some specialtime in the history of psychology, but also existed in all the time of the history ofpsychology.Many scientific psychologists had realized this kind of crisis, in order to makethe psychology to be a unitary and systemic natural science and to prove it’s validity,they had to seek for help to the philosophy. At the same time, Kuhn published hisbook named “the structure of scientific revolution”, his book had a great effect toscientific philosophy、 natural science、 social science and so on. Kuhn’s theoryof paradigm offered a model to interpret the nature of scientific psychology. Manyresearchers used paradigm to demonstrate that revolution had taken placed inpsychology, and considered psychology to be a natural science, however, they didnot totally comprehend the nature of paradigm. In this research, we entirely analyzedthe point of view that psychology had occurred revolution in Kuhn’s meaning, at last,we denied this view, but we should recognize the positive meaning of Kuhn’s theoryto psychology. Then, we analyzed some attempts which wanted to surpass Kuhn’stheory of paradigm, and we brought forward a new point of view in order to surpassthose viewpoints. In author’s opinion, first and foremost, we should realize theobject that psychology needed to research, which consciousness is the mostimportant， and the difference between the research of consciousness and naturalscience that research in the area of physical world. Second, we advised thatpsychology should have it’s meta-theory and clarify it’s nature and methodology.Last but not least, the research of psychology should be according to it’s intrinsicnature and problem-centered, and not method-centered, only in this way, psychology can obtain it’s identity of theory.
