Sino-Japanese cultural communication has a long history. Chinesecharacters have become important Japanese ideographs after they wereintroduced into Japan. Chinese vocabularies used by China and Japan in the sameChinese character cultural cycle, have brought great convenience forcommunication. Even if Chinese vocabularies used by both countries share thesame form, there may be differences more or less in the expression of meaning, which can lead to some frictions and misunderstandings in practicalcommunication.“In Chinese and Japanese, those vocabularies which can be written in thesame word-building are called Sino-Japanese isomorphic vocabularies.” OkochiKang Xian pointed out in日本語と中国語の対照研究論文集(下).According to the general situation, Sino-Japanese isomorphic vocabularies can bedivided into isomorphic synonyms, isomorphic kindred vocabularies andhomographs. This thesis will make a study on isomorphic kindred vocabularies.Although Sino-Japanese isomorphic kindred vocabularies may be intersectionalor similar in semanteme, pragmatic use and color, but they are not exactly thesame. Consequently, the phenomenon of misusage often appears for a studier, and scholars generally think that it is a category most prone to error in Sino-Japanese isomorphic vocabularies. This study adopts the approaches of literatureresearch, comparative analysis and experience summary. The author collects, discerns and arranges the relevant document literature, makes a deep analysis ofrelevant research papers and then sorts out the basic framework of this topic. Onthe basis of relevant previous study, this thesis analyzes the differences betweenSino-Japanese isomorphic kindred vocabularies from the aspects of “semanticrange”,“the part of speech”,“modified object”,“functional object”,“intensity oflinguistic sense”,“commendatory or derogatory color” and “stylistic color”. Then the thesis summarizes the problems and experiences in the process oflearning and proposes corresponding solutions and referential suggestions for thefuture teaching. This thesis is divided into four chapters; the main structure is as follows:In Chapter One is introduction. It states the history and present situation ofthe subject study, the value and purpose of research and applied theories andmethods.Chapter Two analyzes the elements in formation of Sino-Japaneseisomorphic kindred vocabularies. On the basis of stating the formation causes, itfurther discusses the essential factor in formation. In Chapter Three are the study perspectives. It contrasts Sino-Japaneseisomorphic kindred vocabularies from three perspectives of “semanteme”,“pragmatic use” and “color” and explores the differences between both of them.Chapter Four discusses the misusage of Sino-Japanese isomorphic kindredvocabularies, formation reasons and solutions. It lists the misusage cases, analyzes the reasons and puts forward the corresponding solutions.
