As the development of automobile industry, the number of private car is increasing, andthe car-stickers come into people’s view as a new and special linguistic phenomenon,what’s more, they attack more and more language researchers and become an object inlinguistics research. Car-stickers have different types, and warning car-stickers play animportant role, which bears the mainly value. Though they don’t have many kinds, theexpressions and forms are abundant. Most of them are humorous. Speakers can betterconvey the purpose of communication, and hearers can easily understand it. So thecommunication can accomplish successfully. This article will regard warning car-stickersas an object and talk about how they are produced by the speaker and how they areexplained by the hearer in the view of cognitive pragmatic, at the same time, it will exploreand analyse these questions in detail by means of adaption theory and relevance theory.At first, this article simply introduces the origin and the development of the car-stickersby means of static state and classifies car-stickers into four types from their differentfunction,that is warning car-stickers, ridiculing car-stickers, humorous car-stickers anddraining car-stickers, and so we can have a macroscopical realization and understandingabout it. Then, it will put the emphasis on the warning car-stickers and classifies detailedlyfrom the context and the use of words. Based on the classification, the article will study andanalysis the origin of the warning car-stickers by the adaption theory. In the frame of theadaption theory, the article will study how these warning car-stickers produce from fouraspects.Firstly, how the warning car-stickers adapt to the communicators and sharedpsychology world, social world and physics world. Secondly, basing on the context, how tochose object of linguistic structure. Thirdly, the mutual and dynamic process of adaptionbetween the adapted context and the chosen structure objects. Forthly, the salience comesfrom these warning car-stickers. And it tries to study how the speakers chose and produce these warning car-stickers. Meanwhile, how hearers understand the meaning and thepurpose of these words.Then, the article will apply the relevance theory to analyse thefunction of these car-stickers in the communication process of expression-reasoning, therelevance degree when they are explained and the pursuit for the best relevance, so we willunderstand the meaning from the best relevance and deduce the purpose of warningcar-stickers. Through the systematic and comprehensive analysis for the warningcar-stickers, there’s a hope that it will promote the new linguistic phenomenon’sdevelopment and the development will become more widen and deepen. What’s more, itwill encourage us to explore and enrich the methods of the linguistic research.
