Research On Traditional Turkish Dance Under The Perspective Of Religion

The Turkish Traditional dance has been neglected in the field of the world dance. Due to its geographical location, Turkey, a glamorous and charming country which is filled with miracle and magic, serves as an intercontinental connection of economy and culture, and is also known as the crossroads of Eastern and Western civilizations for thousands of years. The eye-dazzling Turkish traditional dance is brilliant. There are SEMA Whirling Dance--a dance full of religious and mysterious feeling, and contrary to the SEMA, the Belly Dance--a more secular and entertaining dance, and of course the various folk dance. These different forms of traditional dance have earned its place in the world.As the establishment of Islam in the country, the religious power has deeply affected the Turkish traditional dance. Islam does not support the development of dance, it even holds a negative attitude. Such notion has hindered the development of traditional dance. However, the power of religion is not enough to distinguish this ancient art, no matter how profound its impact is on dancing. Although Islam has a huge influence on all walks of life in this country, dancing survived and further developed under the unfavorable circumstances. Now with the victory of revolution and the separation of church and state, Turkish dancing has obtained more opportunities to develop.
