Tang poetry has a variety of forms and colorful styles, and at same time, its artistic conception has aunique artistic charm. Therefore, more and more scholars at home or abroad is keen on Tang poetry·stranslation, in order to promote the exchange of Chinese and foreign culture, and make more readers toexperience the richness of Chinese culture.However, when translator translate the Tang poetry, they often from the perspective of traditional.They always think equivalence is one of the most important standards and pay more attention to poetry·slanguage form and ignored the overall beauty of poetry·s translation. Therefore, this article is trying toanalysis the Tang poetry·s English translation under the guidance of image-G actualization theory, and putforward the Tang poetry·s translation should focused on the original poem·s image·s reconstruction and theartistic conception·s reproduce.This thesis is divided into introduction, body and conclusion. In introduction part, the author brieflyintroduces the research background, research purpose and the meaning of the research. The body part isdivided into three chapters. Firstly, this paper introduces the basic situation of Tang poetry·s translation,described the status quo and problems in Tang poetry translation, and introduces the different translationstyles of Tang poetry translation. Secondly, the paper introduces the image-G·s definition, function,structure and the realization in the process of translation. At the same time, introduced Jiang Qiuxia·simage-G actualization theory, and analyzed its role in literary and poetry translation. Finally, the authorcompared different English versions of Li Shangyin·s poems, and evaluated them with gestalt imageactualization theory.This study shows that the image-G actualization has a great guiding significance for Tang poetrytranslation. In the process of Tang poetry translation, translator must combine with original poetry andmutual restraint with it. Translator must have an in-depth understanding of original poetry and then integralrecreate it under the guidance of image-G actualization, in order to make readers have an accurateunderstanding of the original poetry·s beautiful language and culture.
