Rousseau is a great thinker of the18th century in France. Whencoming close to Rousseau,we will find that people both in his timesand our times have mixed reviews on him. Because of the verydifferent estimate and the contradiction of spirit,we feel not onlyconfused but also very interested in him. Rousseau’s thoughts coverseveral aspects, which contain esthetics spirit. As an indispensableshining star in the Enlightenment,he brought up the thought of returnto nature,which is innovation that against the main stream thoughtsof the time. Based on the previous research materials, the paper focuson Rousseau’s view of nature. He advocated returning to nature, andthis paper studies the point of view by inducing and integrating fromexisting materials.This article altogether divided into five parts. The fisrt partintroduces the process of the Enlightenment and some representativethinkers from the background and research significance ofRousseau’s theory. Then it brings up how Rousseau left the group andagainst the enlightenment thinkers in his times, and how he proposedhis conception of nature.In the end of introduction, the paper makes asurvey of the study trends in the past few years.The second part combs the development of the modern view of nature and clarifies the stages of Rousseau’s conception ofnature,which embodies the difference between his thoughts and mainstream thoughts.The third part is the focus of this article. It discusses Rousseau’sreturn to nature theory. Then the article makes the estheticinterpretation from three parts and analyzes the establishment of anew aesthetic paradigm.The last part is viewing the influence of Rousseau’s thoughts bothin his times and modern times from the perspective of historicalinfluence. The esthetic ideology research of Rousseau can not onlysupplement and perfect the enlightenment of aesthetics, but alsohelps to understand the time significance that Rousseau’s aestheticbrings to us.Rousseau is the most special thinker of the modern Frenchenlightenment. He cries out returning to nature by comparing people’sstatus in natural state. His thoughts influence a lot of thinkers. Hepays more attention to sensibility but less to rationality, which has aneffect on the attitudes that we treat civilization today. What’s more,he attaches great importance to conscience and morality, from whichwe can draw from to behave ourselves for the lack of morality insociety nowadays.
