In June of2008, Taishan pumice floating color was selected as the Second batch of national intangible cultural heritage, which attracted people’s attention.Taishan pumice floating color is a spectacular traditional folk art performance with great local characteristics in Fu Shi Cun of Dou Shan Zhen, Taishan City, the hometown of overseas Chinese. It is a wonderful work of art of Taishan, and it is also the artistic treasures of the Chinese nation. In addition, it use traditional culture and art brilliantly and plays the role of inheriting family history, delivering nostalgia, promoting cultural awareness, enhancing their cultural identity and other special effects, local people have strong interest in it, wich also makes many Taishan overseas Chinese missing in dream and caring in soul.With gradually understanding of the intangible cultural heritage, people’s awareness of the excavation and protection of non material cultural heritage is increasingly strengthened, great attention and protection have been paid on many cultural heritage accordingly. Experts and scholars have also done a lot of research and beneficial discussion in cultural heritage protection. However, in general, related research is still in a preliminary stage, and the professional research isn’t mature, whose protection, development, inheritance still have a long way to go. Therefore, based on history, architecture, features of the pumice floating color, the article tries to explore its historical value, artistic value, local heritage value and put emphasis on its current development analysis, then propose some preliminary views of development in order to bring more attention to and promote its great development in the future.
