In the1960s and1970s, the western feminist movement promoted the advance of western history. Women became independent individuals, and is no longer a dispensable accessory of the patriarchal society. Women’s quest for power and equality also prompted the awakening of female artists, and brought the new wave in the field of art.Influenced by feminism around the world, the contemporary Chinese female art also flourished in the1990s. The first chapter discusses the establishment of the discursive power of female artists and the new look of contemporary female art in the backdrop of the worldwide feminist movement. As women’s ultimate capital, body becomes the most direct way of female artists to speak. The second chapter analyzes some cultural interpretations concerning the body narrative of female artists, which is related to the Logos centrism, the current "demonized" feminism, Existentialism and the theory of cruel theatre, mainly to help understand the connotation of the female artists’body narrative better. The body narrative-writing of female artists contains various meanings in different period, the third part focuses on the analysis of the influence of Feminism on creative thinking of women artists’s body narrative. From presentation of female body in the traditional art to the female artists’ body narrative in the contemporary art, female body is experiencing qualitative evolution in art. The fourth chapter lists the representative cases of the body narrative of contemporary female artists in China in order to analyze the connotation and social value of contemporary female artists’ body narrative in detail, which is related to the theoretical study of sociology. The fifth chapter is a summary of the whole thesis, and also general analysis and discussion the condition of contemporary Chinese female artists’ body narrative. Meanwhile, it put forwards opposed views concerning the "opportunistic" body narrative act of contemporary female artists. The female body narrative is an important phenomenon in contemporary art, and the cleaning up of female artists’body narrative contributes to the understanding of its creation connotation and contemporary significance.
