The Study On Contingency Of The Digital Art Creation

Digital art is a new discipline which accompanies the development of computer hardware and software. Using computer and digital technology tools of artistic expression, it can be expanded to all kinds of computer-centred binary numerical code and can be divided into various categories created by computer. This paper will study the range set in the digital art field and analyze all kinds of contingency factors influencing the digital art creation systematically.The final presentation of every digital artwork can fully reflect the beauty of combination of number and art, but during the process of conceiving, producing, creating and permeating to related spread intermediary, the digital artwork can be limited by some uncertainties. The uncertainties includes the special effect generated by the computer software procedure and arithmetic, certain sudden inspiration of digital artist during their creation process, as well as the psychological state of the audiences and the random spreading patterns. These factors which may affect the final result of digital artwork creation can be uniformly defined as the contingency of creation."The most beautiful form is often formed by accident". The so-called contingency refers to the fact that during the digital art creating process, authors may create art work in this way or that way, the art form he or she previously thought of may or may not occur. The final effect may be different. The occurrence of contingency in simple events or separate works is said to be everywhere, but for digital art which combines computer language, digital media spread and personal artistic creation all together, the possibility of accidental events is higher. As it were, design masters are masters in using accidents. An exquisite work should have the "accidental" element and it is the high level of "following the originality". In another word, art should be "reasonable"—out of expectation but reasonable. This paper can be divided into three parts. First, it explores the nature of contingency through various applications of accidents in the field of digital art. Second, this paper probes into various factors that affect the occurrence of contingency based on the essential understanding of it. Finally, this paper analyzes the relationship between the accidental and the inevitable and explores the possibility of using contingency initiatively and purposefully.
