As an art form which takes the modern science and technology achievements as the tool and material, the development of film is closely related with the innovation of technology. Recently, with the computer technology becoming more mature, the advanced technologies represented by the film special effects technology are introduced into the film production. It has greatly promoted the vigorous development of the film industry and a new kind of film language style and film form is established which takes the film special effects as basic characteristic. As the consumer and appreciator of film art, the viewing mental, psychological structure, aesthetic accomplishment, humane quality, technology attitude of audience is undoubtedly an important factor to be considered in the production and distribution of films. We can say that the psychological factors of audience have a very close response relationship with film special effects, and will have important research value.This paper analyses and discusses the relationship between the film special effects and audience psychology with the literature induction and case comparative study method, etc, from the perspective of the film audience psychology and film aesthetics.The full text is divided into four chapters and conclusion. Firstly, the research background, purpose and meaning of this paper and the domestic and foreign research situation of special effects are expatiated. Secondly, the definition, development and category of film special effects are explained. Thirdly, the overview of audience psychology is set forth in terms of psychological formation mechanism of audience psychology and the human audiovisual perception, the psychological construct basis of the film special effects is further explored. At last, the practical cases of film special effects are analyzed based on the research of audience psychological.
