The Study On Novels Of Reincarnation Motif In The New Period

The motif of reincarnation is a prototype motif of functional significance which is recurring in ancient and modern literature. Motif of reincarnation is widely written by many writers in the new period, and showing different artistic features. Many novels are involving of the reincarnation motif, such as Jia Pingwa’s Taibai Mountain note, Buddha Pass, Mist, White night, Gaolao Village, Mo Yan’s Fatigue of life and death, Zhaxi Dawa’s The secretive years of Tibet, The century invitation, The one who falling from the top of the mast, Fan Wen’s Land of water and milk, Land of compassion, Li Bihua’s Terracotta figures, Rouge buckle, The reincarnation of Pan Jinlian, Hong Ying’s The peacock cries, Han Shaogong’s The dictionary of Ma Bridge, Xu Lan’s Ginkgo ginkgo.To a certain extent, there is an implicit or explicit conversational relationship between a text and other texts in the history of literature. Integrating these texts from the perspective of motif, back to the literature itself and finding the same or different factors in texts is conducive to establish dialogic relationship between a text and other texts as well as literary archetypes in literary tradition. Novels of reincarnation in the new period are associated with original thought and religious belief, which reflecting magic feature and mysterious characteristic in a certain extent. Besides, motif of reincarnation as a prototype motif having literature meaning and significance in cultural implication, thematic expression, image building, narrative strategy and some other aspects, and these are worthy of attention and study.This thesis is divided into three parts, including introduction, body (three chapters), conclusion.In the part of introductory, I will briefly combing the writing overview of reincarnation motif in Chinese literature, introducing the research status as well as the purpose, meaning and principal research methods of this topic.Body part is divided into three chapters:The first chapter:themes expression about novels of reincarnation motif. This chapter mainly discusses the three main themes about the novels of reincarnation motif in new era, namely religious beliefs, realistic criticism, description of love, and to analyze their significance in contemporary writing.The second chapter:image’s shape about novels of reincarnation motif. In this chapter I will respectively discussing the several common types of image in the novels of reincarnation motif, which including the image related to the past, the image that animal and human nature coexist, and the image that divinity and humanity are integrated and mutually exclusive. These images has particularity in the novels which is worthy of study.The third chapter:narrative strategy about novels of reincarnation motif. This chapter mainly discusses how the reincarnation motif as a functional motif affects the novel at construction of time-space, narrative mode, narrative perspective.The part of conclusion I will summarize the contemporary significance as well as the deficiency of reincarnation motif writing.
