This thesis is a complement for Prof. Mao Yuanming’s monograph HANWEI LIUCHAO BEIKE JIAOZHU and intends to complement its omissions which concentrate on rubbings published before2007. Rubbings collected in the thesis are153in total, including rubbings discovered in Henan(23), Shaanxi(13), Shandong(12), Hebei(6), Anhui(6), Shanxi(6), Jiangsu(2), Beijing(1), Gansu(1), Sichuan(1). Other rubbing’s excavated sites are unknown. These Inscriptions on Tablet play an important role in providing original data for linguistic, literary, historical, religious and other disciplines.Sources of this thesis come mainly from WENWU, KAOGU, KAOGU YU WENWU, ZHONGYUAN WENWU and other periodicals, and JIDUDAXUE RENWENKEXUE YANJIUSUO CANG LIDAI BEIKE WENZI TABEN, BEIJING TUSHUGUAN CANG ZHONGGUO LIDAI SHIKE TABENHUIBIAN,XIBEI DIQU LIDAI SHIKE HUIBIAN and other rubbings sets.In linguistic aspect, the author firstly interpreted the rubbings, and proofread some existing transcriptions in periodicals and interpreted some variant Chinese characters. And possible explanations of doubtful characters and classical allusions also involved in the thesis.In literary aspect, Inscriptions on Tablet cleared up in this thesis, such as DOUXINGLUO MUZHI(10/13/559)of Beiqi,JUWENCHANG BEI(08/03/569) of Beiqi, YISHIDAOLVEDENG ZAOSHENZUNBEIXIANGJI(09/15/571) and so on, are beautifully written, which offer us first-hand materials for studying the literature in this period.In historical aspect, the author also found many differences between inscriptions records and official history which has yet further study. Moreover, the author knew little about provenance of many historical allusions which has been listed in the preface, and these were left for comments of experts.In religious aspect, the author first described shapes and pattern designs of Inscriptions on Tablet in front of the translations; then initially concluded the excavated sites of these Inscriptions on Tablet; additionally, explained Buddhism doubtful words in the author’s power.In addition, considering numerous titles and names in Inscriptions on Tablet, the author carried on the preliminary sorting and conclusion in order to facilitate further research.
