A Study Of The Anglo-Irish Treaty And Ireland Issue

Since Ireland is conquered by the British, people of Ireland has never given up struggling. However, Ireland issue remains unresolved due to many complicated reasons, such as religion, nationality and so on. The Anglo-Irish Treaty signed by the British and Ireland on6December1921, appears to resolve the Ireland issue. However, no one thought, the signature of Anglo-Irish Treaty turns to be a beginning of the Northern Ireland issue.This article mainly discusses the Anglo-Irish Treaty and Ireland issue by three parts. The first part talks about the historical origin and reason of the formation of the Ireland issue. The second part mainly tells the background and content of the Anglo-Irish Treaty. The last part introduces influence of the signature of the Anglo-Irish Treaty.This paper intends to show the points that:the Anglo-Irish Treaty is the critical point of the Ireland issue and the Northern Ireland issue; the signature of the treaty does not resolve the Ireland issue fundamentally, Instead, it’s one that divides the Ireland into the north and south part; the treaty causes great impacts on the history of the British and Ireland.
