The present research probed into the pattern of eye movements in consecutive and inconsecutive repeated reading as well as visual search with eye tracking technology. Sixteen freshmen participated in the experiment. The data from fixation, saccade and regression were recorded and compared. The results showed that, repeated reading did not influence the pattern of readers’ eye movements significantly, except fixation number, regardless of consecutive or inconsecutive repeated reading condition; eye movement pattern of repeated reading was similar to that of repeated visual search. The results indicated that in repeated reading, readers prefer to use the similar patterns of saccade and regression as they use in first-time reading, which is likely to be more stable, effortless and efficient.
