Since late11th century Ireland was invaded by the Normans, it continually suffered the conquest and governance of the Great Britain. With the time flying, the Great Britain constantly enhanced the control and suppression of the Irish society. The control reinforced day by day through a series of measures including establishment of settler colonies, commercial limitation and religion penalties. This also stimulated the continually dissatisfaction and hostility of Irish people, many rebellions and risings emerged.Between late18th century and the first half of19th century, The early modern Ireland nationalism movements appeared, this was a new stage of Ireland struggle for independence. Under the influence of the America revolution and the French revolution, the national consciousness of the Irish people awakened. Among this period, the content of the Ireland nationalism movement including as following:the United Irishmen and rising of1798; the Emancipation and Repeal movement lead by O’Connell; and the Yong Ireland and the revolution of1848.All these movements had achieved a substantial success, and provided valuable experience and historical tradition.The nationalism movements of this period especially had far-reaching impact on the Fenian movement and the self-government movement.
