A Research Of The Xue Clan In Hedong Area In The Sui And Tang Dynasties

Xue clan in Hedong area is one of the most important noble clans.This thesis mainly discusses the branches development process ofxue clan, the reasons of the prosperity and decline, the clan’scharacteristics.By this research that we will realize xue clan’shistorical position in social development.This thesis has three parts, in which the introduction describedrelative research in academic filed as well as research purpose andmeaning.The second part includes five chapters which the main point.PartⅠis a brief introduction of the debate about xue clan’s ethnicorigin. The author thinks that xue clan was from Shu area. That willprovide support for family research by accessing to a variety ofrelated literature and the epitaph data.Part Ⅱ、Ⅲ and Ⅳ mainly discusses the development process andcauses of ups and downs of xue clan. First, that expounddevelopment history in the Southern and Northern Dynasties Period. During the northern wei Dynasty, by the powerful military strength,this family became one of the country’s nobility that create anadvantageous environment. Second, we introduce the primaryfigure and achievement. In this part, we mainly analyze the reasonof the prosperity from four parts: social influence, family effort,economic power and political marriage. Third, we briefly introducethe decline process of xue clan in the lately-middle tang Dynastyand analyze the decline reasons from two aspects.PartⅤ mainly discuss the family characteristics. The first point,the family relied on the military exploits that became one of thecountry’s nobility and create an advantageous environment. Thesecond point, the position of military officer turns to a civilian post.In the social environment, in order to long-term development, xueclan turned their developing direction: from military to civilian. Thethird point, there were a large number of members start to serve asofficial censor of xue clan. The favorable family education laid agood foundation for the developed official censor. Part Ⅵ mainlydiscusses the culture and atmosphere of the xue clan.In the Sui and Tang dynasty, xue clan major developmentbecause of the social development, the leaders paid specialattention to and xue clan made great efforts. But since the mid-termand later period of Tang dynasty, as the social development and landlords rising, xue clan gradually went to decline and fell in thelong history of beings.
