The Study On The Adverbs In Peony Pavilion

Peony Pavilion is one of the most famous books in the Mingdynasty, which is an important period of Chinese dramadevelopment, so it has great significance to study on its linguistics.Throughout the research achievements of the peony pavilion, wefound mostly of them were in the literary achievements and artisticachievement, while the research from the perspective of linguisticsis relatively not much. As a result, this paper takes "the peonypavilion"(people’s literature publishing house,1963) for dibon, byinvestigating the end type for the adverb, combing by using themethod of static description and diachronic comparison, to drawsome adverbs evolve.The full paper is divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction. Firstly, we summarized themain content of "the peony pavilion", its version, and the study fromscholars in the linguistics research. Secondly, we expounded theoverall condition of adverbs and the status quo of the research, anddiscussed the definition and classification of adverbs so thatproposed the classification scheme of my paper. Adverbs in “PeonyPavilion” are divided into seven categories: the scope of adverbs,adverbs of degree, time adverbs, the negative adverb, circumstances way adverb, the modal adverbs, adverbs andQianJing adverbs.The second part is the focus of the body, which is describing theclassification of the peony pavilion’s adverbs. In the study ofclassification, we will firstly divided the adverbs into the aboveseven types, and then divided each small classes. Each type ofadverbs will be divided according to The Times into the adverbsinherited from the ancient Chinese and the adverbs emerged inmodern Chinese. Meanwhile, we briefly analyzed some newgeneration of adverbs.The third part is a comprehensive survey of the adverb in “PeonyPavilion”. Through the statistical analysis, adverbs system of peonypavilion is inheritance and development from the ancient Chinese.Meanwhile, through comparing with Dong Xi Xiang, we illustratedthe evolution of Chinese.The fourth part is epilogue. This part mainly summarized above:having a completely and relatively stable adverb system，havingimbalance of the development of adverb system; being inheritanceand development from the ancient Chinese, being a reflection of theold and new adverb system evolution.
