Tchaikovsky is a famous Russian composer in the19th century. He is a master ofromanticism and has a lot of music works. His style of works is famous for tragedy, drama,and being widely accepted. The melody in Tchaikovsky’s works is graceful and winsuniversal praise. The harmonic orchestration is constituted on the basis of a solid academicfoundation, combining with rational color at the same time. The essence of Russian folkmusic is integrated into his music, forming a unique romantic music style. Tchaikovsky hascomposed five concertos in his life. This paper takes Tchaikovsky’s piano concerto No.1as theresearch object, deeply analyzing the unique artistic charm and playing skills in it.Rachmaninoff is the last romantic Russian composer in the20th century. Influenced by hisown depression, his works have a special style of melancholy. Rachmaninoff’s creation is alsoinfluenced by the French impressionist music style represented by Debussy, forming a uniquepost-romantic style. Rachmaninoff has composed three concertos in his life and he is famousfor Rachmaninoff’s piano concerto No.2in which many pieces describe the church bells inUral where he lives. From the ideology of Rachmaninoff, this paper analyzes its depiction ofthe bell music and the unique playing skills of the bell music.This paper takes Tchaikovsky’s piano concerto No.1and Rachmaninoff’s piano concerto No.2as the research object for both of them win universal praise and have a magnificent status inthe current music circles. In terms of either performance or competition, the times they havebeen played occupy a considerable proportion. What’s more, from the music point of view,the two works respectively represent the achievements Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff havemade in the aspect of piano concerto. This paper compares and analyzes the differencesbetween the two great composers as the outstanding representatives of the romantic period,and the differences in aspects of structure, harmony, texture. It also studies the requirementsfor players in terms of ideology, spirit and fingertips.
