Sergey Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff(1873-1943), his "Piano Concerto No.1 " revised in 1917 is main object of this thesis for Master degree, use of contrasting in the first version and 1917 version is presented occasionally for understanding better for composer's intention. Centralized contrasting is presented in the fifth chapter especially.Analysis of composer's composing skill is the main clue in this thesis, and gived first place to analyse the unique music language and genius design thorough and comprehensive.The original intention for choosing this concerto, composer's life, composing process for "piano concerto no.1" having carried out the essentials introduction in Introduction and the first chapters; the chapters from the second to the forth are main parts of this thesis, including melody, rhythm and time, music mode and key, analysis for music form and chord and so on; it is the contrasted analysis mainly to "piano concerto no.1" between the first version and 1917 version in the fifth chaper, briefly between "piano concerto no.1" of Rachmaninoff and "piano concerto in a minor" of Grieg. Make every effort to analyse thoroughly for " previous and present life" of piano concerto no.1...
