The Effect Of Violent Video Games On University Student’s Aggression And Emotion

With the popularity of computers and networks, whether at home or abroad, video games have become the main form of entertainment of young people, and gradually occupied the leisure time of young people. Coming with this fashion, the negative effects of violent video games on young people have gradually been widespread concerned in the academic community and the general public. Previous studies have some shortcomings,such as the lake of localization studies,gender differences in aggression controversial,a lack of research on relations between violent video games issues and other variable. This study attempts to explore the relationship of the types of video games,gender and aggression,emotion.This study used a completely2×2randomized design,54college students were tested as experimental subjects. after controlling aggressive traits, gender, type of impact on the college game aggressive behavior and emotions. The results showed that:(1) gender differences in the aggressive nature of the college was not significant, but the boys on average larger than the mean body attack girls, while girls average in language attacks, hostility and anger more than boys in all three dimensions on average.(2) video games on aggressive affect, that violent video games can evoke more aggressive.(3) Video Games due to the impact of aggressive behavior,there is no gender effect, but in the violent game condition, girls display more aggressive behaviour than boys.(4) video games have no effect on the subjects emotion. And under various experimental conditions, the subjects tend to produce more high evoke emotions and high motivation.(5) there is no gender effects of video games evoking emotion and enthusiasm. Both male and female students and produce more high evoke emotions and high motivation.
