On The Bifurcation Of Rural Writing In Tie Ning’s Novels

Tie Ning still keeps working on the field of contemporary literary in her unique way and shows strong creative force. Even with very short experience in the country for4years as a educated youth, Tie Ning never forget the countryside. She always kept a high enthusiasm on the rural writing, and wrote series of influential works for the rural status quo. This thesis concerns on the rural writing of Tie Ning’ novels (including rural theme or urban theme in rural or rural people) and explores the bifurcation at different stages from the background of new cultural zeitgeist and the perspective of Human nature and rural survival plight. This thesis consists of three chapter as follows.The first chapter shows the bifurcation of rural writing of Tie Ning in her writing career from three longitudinal aspects. Firstly, her early works in the late1970s and early1980s show out the poetry writing of countryside and express the dream of the modern civilization; Secondly, as the changing of times and society, Her mid-term works during the late1980s to the beginning of new century show her criticism and thinking on negative factor of urban civilization suffering to the village; Thirdly, the later work of "stupid flower" conveys her adherence and revaluation to the local traditional culture, and also seeks the future trend of rural.The second chapter analyzes the kind of narrative strategy chosen by Tie Ning to describe the bifurcation of rural writing with unique aesthetic characteristics, which are mainly shown as:the use of folk discourse and while perspective to reveal the whole country, the combination of enlightenment narrative with daily narrative to push the narrative art of the bifurcation in the rural writing, and the employ of poetic language and irony art to express the bifurcation in the choice of rural artistic imagination.The third chapter discusses the origin of the bifurcation in Tie Ning’s rural writing. On the one hand, Tie Ning’s emotion change process creates the variability of its style, and the change of literary concept to promote its reflection and innovation of rural writing, so that the rural writing contradiction characteristic in different stages, which from different levels to show the rural suffering hardship and care; On the other hand, Tie Ning’s dominant and recessive coexistence is the complex of human relationship, which dedicates to the drive of vernacular writing and cultural resources, leading her novel creative changing and extending, also constitutes an important cause of the bifurcation.In a word, the local imagination is constantly changing during Tie Ning’s writing career. As the bifurcation in her rural writing, she has showed conflicting views on the choice of cultural value, but she eventually accepts and returns to rural one.
