Thinking is the internal content of language while language is the external medium of thinking. It is the different thinking patterns that shape the static feature of English and the dynamic feature of Chinese. On the basis of functional equivalence theory, Nida believes that the translator could reproduce the meaning of original text through dynamic and static transformation when it is difficult to achieve the correspondence in both meaning and form.As a whole, nouns are considered static while verbs dynamic. From the perspective, Chinese uses more verbs, which show significant dynamic features; English uses more nouns and prepositions, which show significant static features. Besides, the use of "be" has further weakened the dynamic meaning of English, which leads English to being dynamic. The dynamic advantage of Chinese can be shown from the flexible use of verbs. Different from English, Chinese can use verbs as any element in a sentence, such as subjective, objective, predicate, and so on. In addition, Chinese can use several verbs directly by omitting transitive elements, which leads Chinese to being obviously dynamic. This article attempts to study the transformation of dynamic and static language by analyzing the causes of differences, language characteristics of English and Chinese, and strategies to accomplish the transformation.
