With the continuous improvement of China’s national strength and its international position, more and more foreigners become interested in learning Chinese and Chinese culture, which fuels the robust development of the cause of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Culture teaching is an important part of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. Chinese classical allusion culture is extensive and profound. There are many phrases generated by the classical allusion culture, whose rich era background and culture deposit are a gathering of the essence of Chinese traditional culture, making it a miniature of the Chinese culture. In the current advanced-level Chinese teaching for foreigners, phrases and idioms based on Chinese customs have gradually have been learned by the foreign students. The learning and teaching of classical allusion phrases have a relatively high requirement of both students and teaches and classical allusion phrases in the teaching practices is relatively backward. Therefore, this paper adopts the above issue for its research topic, which has a great room for improvement and innovation. The research focus and significance of this paper is the application of classical allusion phrases in the current Chinese teaching for foreigners and about how to enhance the application of classical allusion phrases in teaching Chinese as a foreign languageand to provide some valuable reference for cuture teaching.This paper starts with the classical allusion phrases and finds out the characteristics of the classical allusion phrases, namely condensability, canonization and integration, after clearly identifying them. In terms of the application of classical allusion phrase in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, this paper analyzes the classical allusion phrases included the textbooks as well as the students’learning of classical allusion phrases. The finding of this paper is that classical allusion phrases are still not widely used in the current Chinese teaching for foreigners, which calls for further in-depth development. Therefore, multi-party efforts should be adopted, such as sharpening people’s realization of the importance of learning classical allusion phrases and enhancing teachers’self-cultivation. Culture teaching is of vital significance in teaching Chinese as a foreign language, of which classical allusion phrases are an indispensable part. The improvement of the teaching quality of classical allusion phrases is all the more urgent and necessary.
