The character “Cong” is the most commonly used in modern Chineseprepositions. There are a lot of grammatical meanings of “Cong” and many overlapswith other prepositions such as “Zai”,“Zi” and “Zicong” which cause lots of troublesto foreign students.It’s necessary to put “Cong” in “Cong” phrases to analyze its own uniquecharacteristics. This paper is supported by Three Plane Theory to summarize thesyntax, semantics and pragmatics of “Cong” phrases. Then this paper compared thestructure of “Cong” phrases with other mixed preposition structures on the basis ofsummarizing the Beijing University CCL corpus. Grounded upon corpus, this thesisalso classified the types of errors about “Cong” phrases, analyzed the causes of errors,summarized the teaching principles and made a teaching design. The paper wasdivided into four chapters. The main contents are as follows:The first chapter is “Introduction”. In this chapter, the article mainly indicatedthe purpose and significance of choosing this topic, summarized the related researchresults, identified the scope of this article and illustrated the theoretical bases, researchmethods and the sources of corpus.The second chapter is “The ontology research of the structure of ‘Cong’phrases”.The paper elaborately studied “Cong” phrases based on Three Plane Theoryand compared it with the “Zai” phrases,“Zi” phrases and “Zicong” phrases.The third chapter is “The error analysis of the structure of ‘Cong’ phrases forforeign students”. The paper classified and analyzed the errors in detail based on theHSK Dynamic Composition Corpus.The fourth chapter is “The teaching principles and teaching design of thestructure of ‘Cong’ phrases”. The author finally pointed out the teaching principlesdirected at errors and then took the example of “Cong+X+Position Words” to carryon a teaching design.
