The Image Of Xiangxi

Regional theme movies and ethnic minority movies have been the important type in the Chinese movies. The Xiangxi movies are peculiar because they belong to the both. Therefore, the Xiangxi movies have a unique artistic charm and a certain research value. Although the Xiangxi movies started late, but after30years of exploration and development, they already have their own style and characteristics.This paper is a research of the Xiangxi movies since1980. According to the different starting points, the article will be divided into three parts:The first chapter mainly introduces the local conditions and customs in Xiangxi. It discusses the frames, music and images in the Xiangxi movies. Xiangxi has a lot of valuable natural and cultural landscape, and the Xiangxi movies show these with film language. So the Xiangxi movies have a unique charm.The second chapter mainly studies the characters in the Xiangxi movies. The Xiangxi movies on the shaping of the present dual nature: the fates of women develop mixed, the personality of young men mingled yarn and the elders in social role and family role play roll. The environment on a person’s character and destiny development can have a significant impact, and the characters in the movies are closely related with the survival environment of Xiangxi.The third chapter from Xiangxi culture of reflected in the movies. Cultural conflict and humanistic care, like the cities vs. villages, the modern vs. traditional, the material vs. spiritual, are the important contents in the Xiangxi movies. The different cultures and values will produce intense contradiction, and can blend each other at the same time. The Xiangxi movies are full of cultural conflicts, and at the same time with humanistic care for reflection and comfort.All in all, this paper studies the local conditions and customs, the people and the culture in the movies. Summary of Xiangxi local characteristics and analysis of the Xiangxi movies artistic charm are also the main content of this paper.
