The reference and absorption of Chinese traditional culturalelements in animation modeling design has thus become a key topic. Thousands ofyears of development has given China a rich cultural heritage, including physical oneslike cultural relics, graphics, drama and dance as well as intangible ones like thoughtand philosophy, which is the soil where we can get rich nutrients in animation design.A large number of traditional patterns and graphics, a color system full of nationalcharacteristics and the various visual art forms provide animation modeling with richmaterials and visual styles. A variety of external stylized elements of traditional dramadance and its inner aesthetic thought have important reference value in charactermodeling design. Importance of literature in animation modeling design not only liesin that its rich image descriptions provide a significant reference for the creation ofanimated characters, but also in that the beautiful artistic conception it conveyspromotes the cultural thickness of the animation modeling. As a core part of thenational culture, ideology plays an important role in the manifestation of nationalcharacteristics. The mastery and expression of ideology in animation modeling is notonly the key in the personality shaping of animated characters, but also the importantpremise of the localization and nationalization of animation. In spite of the broad agreement on the application of Chinese traditional cultureelements in animation modeling, special attention still need to be paid to the specificanimation art and the business characteristics during practice. And it is supposed to beproper absorption and reference instead of rigid and deliberate copy of the traditional culture. The ultimate goal of learning from the tradition lies in innovation.
