This is a translation report on Cultural Analysis (Chapter Two) by JimMcGuigan, who is a professor on cultural analysis in Department of Social Sciencesof Loughborough University. Based on real cases, the book analyzes a variety ofsocial and cultural phenomena from the perspectives of cultural public sphere,British identity, cultural disasters, risky culture, etc.. Under the guidance of Nord’sfunctionality plus loyalty principle, using literal translation mainly and liberaltranslation partially, the author of the report worked on the translation with someuseful and common translation methods, including addition and ellipsis,transformation between passive and active, changing sentence pattern. Afterfinishing this translation, the author got much benefit and learnt many lessons, awareof her own limitations in doing such work. At the same time, regardless ofdifficulties, the author will continue to translate and improve her capacity with greatenthusiasm and perseverance.
