This is a translation project for Understanding Work-based Learning. Thesource text is written in English and can be categorized into the pragmatic text. Thetext mainly makes a presentation of what is Work-based Learning. Given the nature ofthe text, this report develops based on skopos theory, which is established by theGerman linguist Hans J. Vermeer, comes to be the theoretical foundation of this paper.And under the guiding of skopos principle, this paper pays more attention to the usingof the related proper translation approaches and strategies. Based on the analysis tothe source text, the paper intends to make an exploration to the problems turned upduring translation and to check the applied function and value of skopos theory intranslation practice. Furthermore, the paper aims to offer a reference both to thetranslation of similar materials and to the related educational institution. This paperincludes four chapters: chapter1introduces the background, aim, significance andstructure of the translation project; chapter2gives a brief introduction to the sourcetext including its author, its contents, its language and its structure; chapter3makes adescription to the pre-translation preparation work, the translation theory andtranslation approaches and the related troubles and solutions in the process of thetranslation, which are all followed by corresponding examples; the last chapter,chapter4serves as the conclusion part of this paper, which includes lessons andexperience gained from this translating process, together with the problems remainedto be worked out.
