The Jin dynasty is a regime established by Nuchen nationality in north China. Starting from Wanyan Aguda, its founder, the dynasty has nine emperors spanning over120years, until the toppling of its last emperor Wanyan Chenglin. Three out of the nine emperors ascended the throne by unusual means, including King Hailing, Emperor Shizong and Emperor Xuanzong, with the former two as the most capable rulers of Jin dynasty.This study set the inheritance officials of King Hailing and Emperor Shizong as its major object, so as to systematically analyze this interest group, probe into the talent tank of these throne contenders, and scrutinize the impact that inheritance officials could insert on the regime after theses contenders were crowned. A unique viewpoint will thus be given for better understanding the rulers and political situation of the Jin dynasty.Drawing from the formation and structure of inheritance officials, the first part of this article introduces their impact on the ruling of King Hailing and Emperor Shizong, and their ultimate consequences. The second part is focused on the formation and structure inheritance officials of Emperor Shizong specifically, and their impact on the Emperor Shizong and Emperor Xuanzong regimes. In the end, the third part provides an overall evaluation of the inheritance officials spanning three emperors and subsequent implications.
