Study On The Image Of Intellectuals In The Newborn Generation Writers’ Novels

The intellectuals have always been the target of our writing, with different image characteristics in different times. The "Newborn generation" writers who showed their debut in the1990s also focus on intellectuals to observe their living conditions and spiritual dilemma. In the textual practice of Han Dong, Zhu Wen, Lu Yang, each of them creates several different types of intellectuals’ images for us in their different ways. The change of those images reflects the complex social and cultural context at that time, and as well reflects the writers’thinking of the role of intellectuals who live in the consumerism era, which also makes those images in the text with rich meaning construction.The present thesis intends to start with the text of newborn generation writers and the social context of the1990s, to analyze the image of intellectuals in newborn generation novels, and insight into the writers’creative achievements in specific cultural context. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, the thesis can be divided into three chapters.The first chapter mainly discusses the writing background and writing attitude of newborn generation writers, so that we can better understand the ear and cultural background of the text writing, and better grasp the literary ontology and the social status of intellectuals in the1990s. An overview of the newborn generation writers’writing attitude helps us better grasp the unique writing style of the so called "rebellious generation", and also is more conducive to investigate the deep connotation of intellectuals’image behind the text. Era and cultural context is mainly analyzed from the literary ontology and the real-time change of intellectuals’social status, which changes from the "center" to the "edge". Writing attitude of the Newborn generation writers is mainly discussed from the rebellion of the traditional order and the writing part from the mainstream ideology. The second chapter focuses on the inspection and exploration of images of the intellectual group in newborn generation novel, which can be summarized in three aspects: the exile of desire, spirit free type and aphasia extrusion. The combing and analysis of the three types of intellectuals in cultural texts demonstrate the living condition of intellectuals, and sketch out the desire pursue, spiritual dilemma and the changing process of their social status.The third chapter mainly focuses on the analyses of the significance and value of the intellectuals’image in newborn generation novels, from three perspectives:the writing background, the reduction of social identity and the existence value of intellectuals.
