The themes of Realistic Ink Figure Painting have experienced a transformation fromthe war to praising the life during the period between Anti-Japanese War and the CulturalRevolution. Changes of themes have also changed the contents: from depicting the realityof anti-Japanese popular and business organizations to the positive images of workers,peasants and soldiers. Realistic Ink Figure Painting originated in the early twentiethcentury. The themes of this period conformed to the times. Changing themes of ideologymake different contents and emerge new presenting forms. In that way, the characterizationof image has developed. This thesis listed different paintings from different times. Bycomparing different paintings, this thesis presents the development of Realistic Ink FigurePainting during the period from Anti-Japanese War to the Cultural Revolution completely.Themes of Contemporary Chinese Realistic Ink Figure Painting keep in step withtimes. With the development of time, contents of Contemporary Chinese Realistic InkFigure Painting become increasingly abundant. Many works directly reflect the socialreality and personal feelings, disclose problems of this society, and reflect authors’concerns and attitudes toward these social problems. In addition, forms of language arealso exploring and developing. In the new era, Realistic Ink Figure Painting should alsoaccept the baptism of the new artistic trend. Besides, Realistic Ink Figure Painting alsopays attention to expressing the true feeling of individual,that enriches its themes.
